NIFTY50 Time Analysis using Gann’s Master 12 Chart

The Master 12 Chart is a time forecasting technique discovered by W. D. Gann which works amazingly well in describing very long time cycles. The chart appears as a two dimensional matrix containing 12 rows and 12 columns. Numbers in the chart usually denotes time in years. Numbers in the top (i.e. first) row represents top formation years whereas numbers in the middle (i.e. seventh) row represents bottom formation years. In this case study, I shall discuss about my analysis of NIFTY 50 index using Gann’s Master 12 Chart.

NIFTY 50 index was launched in the year 1996. Hence, the Master 12 Chart for NIFTY 50 was constructed beginning 1996 in the bottom left corner cell ranging upto year 2139 in the top right corner of the chart. Top formation years are highlighted in green and bottom formation years in orange color. Years having vibration number 9 are bold faced.

Following are the facts and findings of analysis:

  • NIFTY 50 index was launched in year 1996.

  • An intermediate bottom was formed in November 1998 around 800 levels. From this level, NIFTY rallied more than 100% within 18 months and formed top around 1800 level. Please note that, year 1998 (1998 -> 1 + 9 + 9 + 8 = 27 -> 2 + 7 = 9) has vibration number 9.

  • NIFTY formed bottom around 850 in September 2001, which is a bottom formation year according to the Master 12 Chart.

  • NIFTY formed top around 6300 in December 2007, which is a top formation year according to the Master 12 Chart. Additionally, year 2007 (2007 -> 2 + 0 + 0 + 7 = 9) has vibration number 9.

  • Great crash of 2008 happened. NIFTY crashed nearly 60% from its 2007 top forming bottom around 2500 levels.

  • NIFTY traded between 2500 and 6300 levels till mid 2013.

  • Next bull run started forming bottom around 5200 level in August 2013, which is a bottom formation year according to the Master 12 Chart.

  • An intermediate bottom was formed in February 2016 around 6825 levels. From this level, NIFTY rallied nearly 75% within 36 months to reach 12000 level. Interestingly, year 2016 (2016 -> 2 + 0 + 1 + 6 = 9) too has vibration number 9.

  • NIFTY traded around its all time high level of 12000 in June 2019.

In summary, NIFTY 50 formed bottom in year 2001 and topped out in 2007. Next bull run started forming bottom in year 2013. As per the Master 12 Chart, year 2019 is again a top formation year. Period.

Present analysis leaves us with following questions / clues :

  • TOP : Has NIFTY already topped out around 12000 level in 2019 !
  • CRASH : Will 2020 be an extreme caution year for NIFTY ? Would it repeat crash like situation from year 2008!
  • REVIVAL : Will NIFTY remain in a long revival phase till year 2024 !
  • BULL RUN : Will NIFTY start next bull run forming bottom in year 2025 lasting till 2031 ! As per the Master 12 chart, 2025 is a bottom formation year and is a vibration (2025 -> 2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 9) 9 year too.

W. D. Gann's Master 12 Chart

The Master 12 Chart is a time forecasting technique discovered by W. D. Gann which works amazingly well in describing very long time cycles. The chart appears as a two dimensional matrix containing 12 rows and 12 columns. Numbers in the chart usually denotes time in years. The matrix is constructed beginning with number 1 in the bottom left corner cell. It progresses in bottom up fashion from 2 to 12 in the first column. Second column starts with the number 13 in the bottom and moves up till 24. All the remaining columns of matrix are constructed in similar fashion, finally placing number 144 in the top right corner cell of the matrix. In the Master 12 Chart, numbers in the top (i.e. first) row represents top formation years whereas numbers in the middle (i.e. seventh) row represents bottom formation years.
